In the last spring, Chariji asked us to buy blindly the book "Whispers from the Brighter World".
It was not yet printed at this time, it had no title and Chariji refused to say what there was inside. He told us to pay US$ 250 only because we trusted him. Later, it would be too late even if we gave him millions dollars.
It was not yet printed at this time, it had no title and Chariji refused to say what there was inside. He told us to pay US$ 250 only because we trusted him. Later, it would be too late even if we gave him millions dollars.
"All the abhyasis subscribed to have a copy of this book for our Centre", said Elodie. "It was in English, Chariji forbade us to translate it and even to read some extracts in small groups. The official reason was that a French version would come later."
Actually, in autumn, Chariji asked French abhyasis for US$ 300 to obtain this French version. They had to pay before the end of 2005, for a delivery in the beginning of 2007. And he forbade them to purchase it in groups. Why ?
Chariji did not stop in so good way. Immediately, Shri Ram Chandra Mission proposed an Audio Video Corpus Fund (AVCF). Since a long time, we have the possibility of life subscribing to our magazine "Constant Remembrance" since a long time. Then, Shri Ram Chandra Mission do so much for all the audio and video publications. Why not ?
But it is not US$ 250 or US$ 300 which is necessary to pay anymore, that is US$ 1000 ! And Shri Ram Chandra Mission announce that it would be limited to the first 2000 suscribers…
It was just to have a big rush of all the abhyasis because Shri Ram Chandra Mission wanted 2 millions before the end of 2005.
Why ? We do not know.
And now, in 2006, after the rush, Shri Ram Chandra Mission told us we have more time to pay for the French version of "Whispers", and there is no limit of number for AVCF anymore…
Our Beloved Master Chariji laugh at all of us.
Why everything is suddenly so expensive ? Sahaj Marg is not only reserved for the richest abhyasis. Babuji said : "meditation is free". How us, "poor" abhyasis, are we going to do ? It is already necessary to pay our plane tickets and the registration seminars. It is also necessary to pay to have publications which increase all the time. It is not possible anymore !
Why does Chariji want always more money ?
I do not understand anymore.

Bonjour Elodie
Nice blog, good idea.
Money is not the lonely problem. Free expression is impossible in SRCM. Abhyasis can't communicate plainly and openly.
Our well-known Brother Clark Powell made a blog last year. Chari didn't be pleased, then he said to stop the blog.
Why can't abhyasis speak to each other without Chari's agreement ?
Why is Chari afraid when he doesn't manage something by himself ?
What does he want to conceal ?
With regards.
Richard
Dear all,
I was immensly unhappy to read what you all said about "Chariji requiring more and more money."
if any of you do not know, "Whispers from the Brighter World" is now available on the internet (at sahajmarg.org) free of cost, by the name of "a Whisper a day". that sum was merely a donation, which Master expected from us out of the trust which we have for Him, exactly as He said. why did you give that much money, when you didn't have that trust and faith that Master talked about. HE ASKED FOR DONATION FOR THE ABHYASIS' MISSION FROM THE ABHYASIS WHO TRUSTED HIM AND LOVED HIM, AND NOBODY ELSE. your post is a proof that u r lacking in that trust! so next time, listen to the Master carefully before giving any money. We all donate out of the faith and love for Sahaj Marg, and nothing else.
Thanks.
Affectionately,
Suyash.
I was involved with SRCM for over 10 years. I started in 1979 and became a preceptor in 1988. I chose to leave the organization in 1990, when forced to accept all authority in the organization without question, even if it goes against the principles of the organization itself.
Since leaving, I've learned much about the true history of Sahaj Marg including meeting one of Lalaji's last living diciples. I found that Sahaj Marg is actually Sufism, which probably had its roots in ancient Yogic practicies. Lalaji NEVER intended an organization to be formed around his legacy. He chose not to create one in his life and only encouraged those around him to continue their spiritual quest and spark the spiritual quest of others. I've met Babjuji - very impressive and loveable man, but all his proclaimations of authority and exclusivity are based on visions and dreams we can only trust he actually had.
Sahaj Marg has several significant flaws, many of which go against the very principles it expounds:
1. They believe that only the highest regions of spiritual attainment are only possible through devotion to the living successor/Mastor of Shri Ram Chandra Mission They but don't acknowledge this to new abhyasis, who are told instead, simply to try the practice and see the benefit. Its the classic bait and switch guru trick and is taught to Preceptors in their "Preceptors Only" books and training sessions.
2. Money runs the organization. Raising money is a constant discussion within preceptor meetings, although the changes in the organization may have moved this responsibility to regional coordinators. I sat in secret meetings discussing how to get recently joined wealthy abhyasis more involved so that they will donate. Sadly many of those people had no idea that they received such favoratism and access to Chari because of their money, not their spiritual purity.
3. The inner circle around Chari is controled and manipulated by their lust for personal power and self importance. My run in with Chari revolved around his assumption that I actually coveted my position as preceptor, which I didn't. He remains upset to this day that he could not control me as he does others using promise of preceptorship, spiritual power, and access to the "inner circle" if only I would just obey him and "The Mission" without question.
4. If Sahaj Marg is to be judged it should be judged by the quality of their abhyasis and their progress, not the principles that it expounds. Many abyasis and preceptors have serious mental illnesses that continue to worsen over the years. Many involved and in positions of power continue to show after 20-30 years, no reduction in selfish, egotistical behavior. This is because, while the philosophy sounds pure, the organization thrives on position, money, power, physical closeness to the "Master", and above all, unquestioning obedience to the Master. I recieved a letter once from Chari that insisted that I was disobedient in matters of the Mission - I guess because I questioned the sanity and integrity of some in positions of authority. Interesting concept, but not published in any Sahaj Marg books. Not even the ones you pre-pay $250 for.
Personally, I have found my last 15+ years away from SRCM far more enriching than my experiences in SRCM. I've had to face my own shadows and have found gentle guidance in the absence of Chari, who insisted privately to those around him that I would surely have a great spiritual fall.
I continue on my spiritual quest with inspiration and confidence as you all will as well if you choose to leave. The divine is not so exclusive as to limit access only to such an obscure organization.
... and as for Suyash's comment that , "We all donate out of faith and love of Sahaj Marg, Nothing else"... Well, I guess the concept of "obedience to the mission" is now an official thing. I'd plead with him and others that think alike to question this thinking they've been indoctrinated in.
I respectfully suggest Suyash and others re-read Reality At Dawn, especially the part about charging money for spiritual training, that it should be free and is everyone's birthright. Then there's the part about God not being found in an organization or a sect.
Then again, Reality At Dawn used to cost $1.50 and was given away for free to new abhyasis. I certainly hope that abhyasis these days aren't avoiding the older books because they don't cost as much as the new ones!
With honor to the divine in YOU,
Michael
Dear brother/sister
Furstration is a part of life and one has to deal with it. Rather, we have to find a way to realease it. And i think the meditation practice and teaching of sahaj marg is the best for it.
As far a the cost of Whispers from the brighter world is considered, it is an expensive book. But, realise that it costed in india (poor developing economy where 30% of the people still starve)10,000 Rs. per print. My salary is just 11,000 Rs. but I paid for it (and was not allowed to purchase in a group), because I realise that messages from the divine are PRICELESS. Why the Mission is chargeing more money is simply because it can be used to build more ashrams throughout the world, which ones like me and you would use for negligble cost. I reckon that many poor abhyasis can attend large gatherings or bhandaras because well off abhyasis fund the mission and so it can charge very little for its services. When i joined the mission i used to seek the negative points
in it, I found some but at the same time a lot of positive things also. Which actually exceeded the former. I have thus realised, the BEST state of mind of a HUMAN BEING is POSITIVE, which the mission has given me.
Sahaj Marg needs to be improved, and it is improving. The matter is only of time. One should realise that Sahaj Marg is a spiritual organisation and not a political organisation. Freedom of speech, expression etc are politically relevant wherein people struggle for power/priveleges so that they can enhance their wealth and prestige. Concepts of dissemination of benefits to the people through political process are relevent only when benefits are TANGIBLE and affect the very physical survival of the being. Spiritual teaching is intangible, and priceless because it helps us come out from the filth we are living in. Yes, we all get perturbed on not being able to meet our desires, but these are trivial matters till the time we evaluate RATIONALLY the spiritual benefits of SAHAJ MARG. Please realise that inspite of all the intransigence on the part of abhyasis, they all are dealt with love, acceptance and affection. Yes, mistakes do happen and they are human, but people are always forgiven in spirituality, after all forgivenss is a divine gift.
No matter what, a persistent practice would make any true seeker aware of the divine plan, political problems within the mission are very trivial ,the divine plan seeks to softly uproot them and abhyasis would be witness to it.
With love
An optimist well wisher
I agree with the comments given in the above by some anonymous person to the core. The mission may have some shortcomings & we all as abhyasis should try to enhance the values of the mission.
To tell you some results about money matters just look through the recent tirrupur function. There was no fee & we had almost 60,000 abhyasis who have come from all over the world, the function went so well, we never had any problem with drinking water or food whatever.....who do you think will fund all these things & the money individually given by the abhyasis were refunded to those particular centers for the centers development.
Will you see any other system in the world as great as this.
Ok i agree that you didnt find any good in the system then just leave it(thats what my master has said & go on in your quest), why do you publicize yourself so much.
Just keep your views and go on....no need to keep some blogs and try to influence other people.
Thanks for allowing to publish my blog.
Thank you master.
I will not acquiesce in on it. I regard as warm-hearted post. Expressly the designation attracted me to be familiar with the sound story.
Genial dispatch and this enter helped me alot in my college assignement. Say thank you you for your information.
